Connect once. Get your sleep stages.

Snore Timeline estimates your stages from breathing audio on its own. Connect a wearable through Apple Health and it pulls in that device's sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, and temperature too, importing up to 2 years of history the first time.

More Than Snores

A number alone tells you nothing. Snore Timeline reads each overnight vital against your own baseline and says what it means in plain language, so you learn why it matters, not just what it was.

0br/min
Steady
Breathing Rate

Calm and even. A steady rate through the night is the signature of relaxed, undisturbed sleep. Spikes can flag stress or disruption.

0bpm
Good
Heart Rate

Settled low. Your heart drops to its resting floor as you sleep. The lower it goes below your average, the more your body recovered.

0ms
Good
HRV

Above your average. Wider gaps between beats mean your nervous system recharged overnight rather than running under strain.

0SpO₂ %
Typical
Blood Oxygen

Well supplied. Holding at or above 95 percent means your breathing kept your blood richly oxygenated through the night.

0°C vs base
Typical
Wrist Temperature

Near baseline. Skin temperature drifts with illness, cycle, and strain, so sitting close to your norm is a quiet all-clear.

Audio-Based Estimation

How We Estimate Your Sleep Stages

Using only your phone's microphone, Snore Timeline estimates when you're in light sleep, deep sleep, or REM based on published research into breathing regularity during sleep. And when your breathing is too quiet to hear, it doesn't guess — those calm stretches are labeled Silence and counted as restful sleep.

Listen to Your Breathing

Continuous audio capture via your phone's microphone picks up breathing rate, regularity, and snoring patterns throughout the night

Establish Your Baseline

After ~15 minutes the algorithm learns your personal breathing rate and regularity baseline, adapting thresholds to your unique patterns

Analyze Breath Regularity

Research-based thresholds analyze regularity and variance. Steady, low-variance breathing suggests deep sleep; irregular patterns with high variance indicate REM

Adapt Through the Night

Time-aware logic accounts for natural sleep architecture. Deep sleep peaks early in the night, REM increases toward morning

Honest About Quiet Sleepers

Because everything comes from audio alone, very soft breathing — or a fan masking it — can be inaudible. Instead of guessing a stage, those undisturbed stretches are labeled Silence and credited as restful sleep. A quiet night is the goal, after all

Sleep Insight

Understand Your Sleep Stages

Awake REM Light Deep Silence
11 PM 1 AM 3 AM 5 AM 7 AM
Awake 8%
Light 38%
Deep 19%
REM 24%
Silence 11%

Estimated from audio analysis. Quiet stretches where breathing is too soft to classify are credited as Silence — restful sleep, not missing data. Not a medical device.

Beyond Snore Tracking

Detect When You Stop Breathing

AI-Powered Analysis

How We Detect Disruptions

In addition to snore detection, our algorithm identifies moments when you stop breathing for 10+ seconds—helping you spot patterns worth discussing with a doctor.

Baseline Observation

Monitors audible breathing for at least one minute to establish accurate baseline patterns

Silence Detection

AI identifies extended quiet periods lasting 10+ seconds—a key indicator of breathing disruptions

Recovery Recognition

Detects loud abrupt snoring, gasps, coughs, or breathing sounds that follow the silent period

Timeline Marking

Places markers at exact timestamps, creating a visual map of disruptions

Snore Nudges and a Smart Alarm on Your Wrist

Most snore trackers just report in the morning. With an Apple Watch, Snore Timeline nudges you when you snore and wakes you when you are sleeping lightly.

Snore Nudge

A tap on the wrist when you snore

When snoring is detected live, your watch taps your wrist, just enough to prompt a position change without waking you. It works with your iPhone locked and the watch app closed.

  • Paces itself: quick retries while snoring continues, then backs off, and stops for the night when nudges are not working
  • Scores every nudge in the morning, from "Stopped snoring for 3 min" to "Quiet until morning"
  • Shows the snoring rate five minutes before and after each tap, so you learn whether position changes work for you

Smart Alarm

Wake up during light sleep

Give the alarm a window of 15, 30, or 45 minutes and it rings when it finds you sleeping lightly, instead of pulling you out of deep sleep at the exact minute.

  • Or wake with no sound at all: turn the alarm off and your Apple Watch taps your wrist instead, so your partner sleeps through it
  • Rings at your set time no matter what, so you can never oversleep
  • Fades in gently, and tells you in the morning how many minutes early it woke you

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Snore Timeline

What makes Snore Timeline different from other snore tracking apps?

Snore Timeline keeps the full night's audio and lays it on an interactive timeline you can scrub through and tap to hear. Recording is continuous, not sampled, so a quiet hour reads as a quiet hour. The app tags coughs, gasps, sleep talking, and breathing pauses as their own categories, and groups consecutive sounds into episodes you can play back.

Sleep stage data merges in from Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Whoop, Garmin, and Ultrahuman. Detection runs on your phone. No cloud, no account, no subscription.

How real-time detection works →

What is the difference between the sleep score and the recovery score?

The sleep score rates how you slept, from your recording: duration, efficiency, sleep stages, snoring, and bedtime regularity on a 0 to 100 scale. The recovery score reads how your body responded overnight, from your Apple Watch vitals: heart rate variability, resting heart rate, breathing rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, and time asleep, each compared to your own baseline.

The morning summary blends both into one plain-language status, like "Well Recovered." The recovery score needs a wearable that writes to Apple Health; the sleep score works from audio alone. Both are personal-insight scores, not medical assessments.

How the recovery score works →

Can it wake me without an alarm sound, so my partner keeps sleeping?

Yes, with an Apple Watch. Turn the alarm sound off and turn on the wrist nudge, and the alarm reaches you as a steady rhythm of taps on your wrist instead of noise: two waves of taps over about six minutes, so a deep sleeper gets a second chance. Your partner sleeps through it.

It pairs with the smart alarm, so the taps can arrive during light sleep rather than at a fixed minute, and dismissing the notification on your watch stops the alarm and the recording together. You can also run taps alongside the sound if you want both.

How the silent alarm works →

Does Snore Timeline require a subscription?

No. Snore Timeline is completely free with no subscription required. All features are included: breathing disruption detection, episode grouping, nightly summaries, and data export—no hidden costs or in-app purchases.

Is my data private?

Absolutely. All audio processing happens entirely on your iPhone—no cloud uploads, no external servers, no accounts required. Your recordings stay on your device and only you have access to them. You can export data to share with doctors while maintaining complete privacy.

Privacy and on-device processing →

Does it detect breathing pauses?

Yes, Snore Timeline detects breathing pauses by analyzing your sleep audio. It identifies extended silent periods (10+ seconds) followed by gasps or recovery sounds. The app marks these breathing disruptions on your timeline so you can see patterns. Note: This is audio analysis only, not a medical device. Breathing pauses may be worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

How breathing disruption detection works →

How accurate is the snoring detection?

Snore Timeline uses Apple's proven sound classification technology to continuously analyze your audio in real-time throughout the night. Detection starts immediately with no calibration or setup needed. The app identifies snoring, gasps, coughs, breathing, and sleep talking by analyzing both the sound patterns and frequency characteristics of each audio segment. All processing happens entirely on your device for complete privacy.

How detection accuracy works →

Can I use it with AirPods or Bluetooth devices?

Yes! Snore Timeline supports Bluetooth audio devices including AirPods, making it easy to record throughout the night without draining your phone's battery.

Using AirPods and Bluetooth mics →

Where are my recordings saved?

You can export the entire night's audio as a single file, or bulk download all your snoring episodes at once. For a richer export, tap the download icon to open the Export Report sheet — pick a date range and include summaries, sleep phases, events, biometrics, and (optionally) audio. The report exports as CSV plus any audio you chose to bundle.

Exported files are saved to your device, organized into two folders:
